An overview of our container lifting beams

To ensure the safe and efficient handling of various container types, SpanSet Axzion offers four container lifting beams with different locking and suspension designs. Explore the product range and find the right solution for your needs.

1. Container lifting beam with mechanical central locking system

The economical solution for container handling

The SpanSet Axzion container lifting beam with mechanical central locking system enables the safe lifting and moving of 20′- and 40′-ISO containers.

Locking is performed manually using a suspended chain reel and push rods, which simultaneously engage all four locking bolts. A visual safety indicator helps to check the locking status, while guide plates simplify positioning the lifting beam on the container.

Your benefits:

  • Suitable for 20′ and 40′ ISO containers

  • Manual operation via chain reel and push rods

  • Simultaneous operation of all four locking bolts

  • Visual safety indicator for locking verification

  • Guide plates for easy positioning

2. Container lifting beam with electric central locking

Comfortable operation thanks to an electric lock

The SpanSet Axzion container lifting beam with electric central locking system enables the lifting and moving of 20′ and 40′ ISO containers using an existing crane system.

Locking is achieved via energy-efficient electric cylinders and is operated using a wired handheld control unit. All four locking bolts are activated simultaneously. A visual indicator shows the locking status.

Power is supplied externally via the crane as standard and must be provided by the customer. A battery-powered option is also available.

Upon request, the container spreader can be supplied with a DNV design certification.

Your benefits:

  • Electric locking via energy-efficient electric cylinders

  • Operation via a wired handheld control unit

  • Simultaneous actuation of all four locking bolts

  • Visual indicator for locking status

  • Guide plates for secure centering on the container

  • Optional battery-powered power supply

  • Optionally available with DNV design certification

Optional features for container lifting beam with central locking

Depending on the design, various additional features are available:

Electric lock

For the mechanical design

Flexible control

Wireless or wired, depending on the design

Battery operation

Off-grid power supply

Acoustic signals

For locking and load operation

Forklift bags

For empty transport

Outdoor area

Design for outdoor use

3. Telescopic container lifting beam

Flexible handling of office and storage containers

The telescoping container lifting beam from SpanSet Axzion is designed for lifting and moving 10′, 16′, and 20′ office and storage containers with a load capacity of up to 5,000 kg.

The manual telescoping function allows the lifting beam to be adjusted to different container lengths. Containers are secured using electromechanical twist locks, which are conveniently operated via a radio remote control.

Thanks to the integrated battery power supply, the locking mechanism can be operated independently of an external power source.

Your benefits:

  • Suitable for 10′, 16′, and 20′ office and storage containers

  • Load capacity up to 5,000 kg

  • Manually telescoping design for different container lengths

  • Electromechanical twist locks for securing the container

  • Comfortable operation via radio remote control

  • Battery-powered operation without an external power supply

4. Container lifting beam with chain suspension

Robust solution with variable chain suspension

The SpanSet Axzion container lifting beam with chain suspension is designed for lifting and moving 20′- and 40′-ISO containers.

The lifting beam features a Vario-suspension system for single hooks in accordance with DIN 15401 and is equipped with high-strength grade 10 chains. The container is secured using the container hooks included with the lifting beam.

Depending on the design, the chains are available with or without chain shorteners. For versions with chain shorteners, the chain lengths can be adjusted to suit different load centers of gravity.

Your benefits:

  • Suitable for 20′ and 40′ ISO containers

  • Vario-suspension system for single hooks in accordance with DIN 15401

  • High-strength grade 10 chains

  • Available with or without chain shorteners

  • Adjustment for different load centers in versions with chain shorteners

  • Delivery includes container hooks

FAQs about our container lifting beams

What is a container lifting beam used for?
A container lifting beam is used to safely lift and move containers using a suitable crane system. Depending on the design, it can be used with different container types and sizes. It enables controlled handling during loading and unloading as well as during in-plant transport.
What is the difference between mechanical and electric central locking?
In the mechanical container lifting beam, locking is performed manually using a chain reel and push rods. The electric version uses electric cylinders and is operated as standard via a wired handheld control unit. Both versions allow for the simultaneous operation of all four locking bolts.
For which container sizes are the container lifitng beams suitable?
Our container lifting beams with mechanical or electric central locking, as well as the version with chain-suspension, are designed for 20'- and 40'-ISO containers. The telescoping container lifitng beam is suitable for 10'-, 16'-, and 20'-office and modular containers.
Can container lifting beams be customized?
Yes, depending on the design, various equipment options are available. These include, for example, radio remote control, a battery-powered power supply, audible signals, or forklift pockets for transporting empty containers. The available options depend on the specific container lifting beam.
What are the advantages of a container lifting beam with a chain-suspension system?
The container lifting beam with chain-suspension allows the lifting of 20'- and 40'-ISO containers using container hooks and high-strength grade 10 chains. Optionally available chain shorteners allow the chain lengths to be adjusted to accommodate different load centers.
